In 1879, Rudolf von Alt spent the summer in the surroundings of Liezen, where his patron Nikolaus Dumba lived in a hunting lodge as a summer retreat. “The focal point of the year are the sheets the artist occasionally produced in [Dumba’s] summer residence near Liezen (26 August - 6 October) and during the outward journey through the the Gesäuse region via Admont (10 August).
