Rudolph Bernt
(Neunkirchen 1844-1914 Pottenstein)
The bridge of the so-called „Verbindungsbahn“ with Invalidenhaus (house of Invalids) and the church of Saint Elisabeth, signed Rud. Bernt, watercolour on paper, 21x 31 cm, mounted, framed, (Hu)
From 1873 onwards the streetcar was in service as a horse tram between Schwarzenbergplatz and Prater. The “Verbindungsbahn” counted among the most important means of traffic in Vienna and was planned in 1846. It was an elevated train; the station of Landstraßer Hauptstraße was built somewhat lower than the train line in 1899.
