From 1873 onwards the streetcar was in service as a horse tram between Schwarzenbergplatz and Prater. The “Verbindungsbahn” counted among the most important means of traffic in Vienna and was planned in 1846. It was an elevated train; the station of Landstraßer Hauptstraße was built somewhat lower than the train line in 1899.
