majolica, both vases one side with coloured and the other side with blue painted depictions from the "Gerusalemme Liberata" ("The liberated Jersusalem") by Torquato Tasso; one vase with blue depiction of Clorinda and the killing of Dudone, inscribed underneath: "CLORINDA. ALLI FEDEL. S’OPPONE IN GUERRA CADE. dudon. PER. MAN BOVIS IN TERRA", the other side with a colourfully painted scene of the army commander Goffredo di Buglione, below: "AGL ALTI. CENNI IL CAPITAN. DI CHRIST MOSSE. LE. SCHIERE AL GIGRIOSO AQVISTO", inscribed at the foot "NELLA BOTEO DEL PAPI L'ANNo 1670 IN UBRANIA", the second vase with blue painted depiction of the army in front of Jerusalem, inscribed: "RINALDO. OFFESO. CIDETI FIER GERNANDO POI. SE NE VA LVNSL DAL. DUCE IN BANI" and the colourfully painted depiction of Rinaldo being freed from Armida's spell with magic wands, inscribed: "DELLA SUA GRATIA IL PIO GOFFREDO AFFIDA RINALDO OND' EL PARTIDA EMPA A ARMIDA", inscribed on the base "NELLA R(B) OTEO DEL PAPI ANNO 1670 IN UBRANIA", interlacing serpent handles, mascarons, height 82/83 cm, partly restored, chipped, each with metal insert and feet with bronze bases of a later date, (Hr)
