A Sophisticated Transformation Cabinet in Régence Style (‘Table à Écrire), - Works of Art

after a model manufactured by OEBEN and LELEU in around 1763/64, execution
attributed to P. SORMANI c. 1890/1900, rosewood veneered and lavishly decorated with marquetry bands, hardwood frame on gently curved legs, free standing, sliding top with marquetry in the shape of a flower vase, with a sliding drawer in ‘sans traverse’ execution underneath containing a hinged mirror, underneath a secret compartment, only when opened can 1 drawer be opened at the side (1 without bronze handle), which in turn can be opened for secret compartments, rich bronze doré decorative mounts, at the very bottom of the front one drawer also in ‘sans traverse’ execution, c. 72 x 61 x 47 cm, slight signs of age and use.
