porcelain, 6 pieces: 1 octagonal presentation platter height 3.2 cm. 30 x 38.5 cm, 1 coffee pot with cover height 15.5 cm interior to rim of cover very slightly chipped, 1 milk jug with cover height 14 cm, 1 teapot with cover height 13.5 cm, 1 jug height 13 cm, 1 sugar bowl with cover height 9.5 cm, “Leithner’s blue” cylindrical body with narrow and wide “Leithner’s gold” edges, pastose bright gold bead rows, floral festoons, arched border, frieze with bright gold acanthus leaves, flower buds, meander and garlands of flowers, cover with gold pine finial, angular and round gold handles with leaf terminals on blue ground, each with 3 feet with gold leaf volutes
Vienna, Imperial Manufactory, underglaze blue Austrian shield, dated 1796, 1797, Sorgenthal era, turner no. 12 Franz Schwaiger 1785–1804, no. 26 Anton Zimmerl 1783–1812, no. 33 Heinrich Sabyesky 1783–1787, gilder no. 114 Johann Teufel 1792–1839 (Ru)

Wilhelm Mrazek, Waltraud Neuwirth, Wiener Porzellan 1718-1864, MAK Vienna, 1970, p. 1970: Leithner Josef 1770-1829 at the manufactory, studied at the Vienna Academy, from 1770 flower painter, no. 48, from 1785-1787 head painter at the manufactory, after 1797 arcanist. Inventor of the colour "Leithnerblau" in 1792, "Leithnergold" in 1794, recipient of a gold medal ("goldene Medaille mit Öhr und Band") on 30.12.1812. He celebrated his 54th year of service on 2.8.1824, and took over the stewardship from the factory management on 25.9.1829. He retired in 1829.
