porcelain, the body with gilt edging, lemon-yellow lip with 18 bright gold painted stars and the mid-section with matte gold rosettes, on wide gilt edging matte gold painted lace border, well with polychrome painted depiction of the month of “May”, in the centre a pair of naked lovers with a shining star as a headdress, the goddess holding a floral cornucopia in her right hand, the young god wrapped in red fluttering veil touching the goddess’s hip with his left hand, behind them a floating Cupid with a burning torch in his left hand, all connected with a green and violet fluttering veil, they are standing on a base of clouds, behind them a part of the globe is visible before a dark background, very rare depiction, a commissioned work, height 3.2 cm, diameter 14.3 cm, a segment of the lip with colour loss
Vienna, Imperial Manufactory, underglaze blue Austrian shield, dated 1811, turner no. 37 Wenzel Winklau 1789–1814, gilder no. 121 Thomas Limmer 1792–1821 (Ru)

“May” - probably after the ancient Italian god MAIUS, who was worshipped as the protector of growth.
