An old exhibition label on the reverse: IIIrd International Watercolour Exhibtion, Dresden 1892, Nr.238.

Hans Wilt was a pupil of the theatre painter Kautzky for five years. From 1886 to 1891 he was a pupil at the Vienna Academy under Lichtenfels. In 1893 and 1894 he sojourned in Rome as a fellow in Rome. Wilt was fond of painting motifs from the Wachau valley, Capri, Sicily and the Riviera.
