Ernst Moritz Gustav Tettelbach (1794-1870), was the son of Gottfried Benjamin Tettelbach „Königlich Sächsischer Hof- und Kabinetts-Steinschneider und Graveur zu Friedrichstadt bey Dresden“. His siblings were also artists - Augusta Tettelbach was a flower painter Felix und Paul Clemens Alexander Tettelbach were stone cutters.

Moritz Tettelbach received drawing lessons from Johann Eleazar Zeissig, called Schenau from 1806 on and from 1807 onwards learned fruit- and flower painting from his aunt Caroline Friedrike Friedrich. The young artist was represented at several art exhibitions in Dresden, and in 1914 also in the Salon. From the 1820s onwards Tettelbach was occupied with the artistic recording of the herbarium of King Frederic August II. in Pillnitz Castle together with his uncle Jacob Friedrich and his cousin Carl Friedrich. The cooperation resulted in a unique series of watercolors of plants. In the mid-30s Tettelbach sojourned in Vienna, where he carried out commissions for the imperial court;
in 1865 he was temporarily also in Paris.

Caroline Friederike Friedrich (1749-1815) belonged to a family that had brought up artists over four generations. She was the daughter of the etcher and wallpaper painter David Friedrich Friedrich (1719-1766) and received drawing lessons from her father;
her brother Johann David Alexander Friedrich (1744-1793) taught her oil- and watercolor painting. Caroline Friedrich also taught herself by carefully observing nature. In 1770 she received a scholarship of the Electoral Saxon Academy of Art, in 1774 she was appointed an honorable member and from 1783 on was the only woman to teach art there. As of 1776 she participated regularly with still lifes at exhibitions of the Academy. She combined flowers, insects and food with shimmering and translucent vessels and was often compared by art historians with the Dutch still life painter Jan von Huysum. The Kupferstichkkabinett in Dresden keeps a considerable number of drawings, watercolors and gouaches by her hand.

Caroline Ferdinande of Austria (1801-1832) was the daughter of Emperor Francis II. and his second spouse Maria Theresa of Naples-Sicily. At the age of 18 Caroline Fernande married the nephew of the Saxon king, the later King Frederic August of Saxon. The marriage lasted 13 years and remained childless;
Princess Caroline Ferdinande died at the age of 31.
