The present painting is listed in the RKD database under no. 114908.
Hiltraud Doll accepted the present painting as an authentic work by Adriaen van Ostade, belonging to a small group of tondi, which she dates to around 1632/33. She intends to include it in her forthcoming catalogue raisonné. Fred Meijer also confirms the attribution after inspection of the original.
