Literature:
V. Bertello, Dipinti antichi da Finarte. Bene la fascia media, a calmiere quella alta, in: Il Giornale dell’arte, no. 150, December 1996, s. p. (as Luca Carlevarijs)

We are grateful to Dario Succi for suggesting the attribution of the present painting on the basis of a photograph.

The present painting is a significant addition to the corpus of Apollonio Facchinetti, called Domenichini whose works were in the past assigned to Marieschi, Bellotto and even Canaletto. The small figures that animate the broad and luminous setting in the present composition are also reminiscent of those in the works of Johan Anton Richter.
