This painting depicts the violinist Jascha Heifetz, a friend of Grigory Gluckmann. Jascha Heifetz (Vilnus 1901-1987 Los Angeles) was a Russian violinist naturalised in the United States, He was regarded as one of the greatest performers of the 20th century for his brilliant technique and virtuosity. The maestro from Vilnius used to say one thing about himself:” This is my life: I started playing the violin at the age of 3 and gave my first concert at 7. Since then, I have never stopped playing”.
