1954 Lancia Aurelia 2500 GT Series 4

1954 Lancia Aurelia 2500 GT Series 4 - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Enthusiastically owned by the consignor since 1997

Lancia crowned the Aurelia series in 1954 with this car, the Series 4. They gave the car a balanced weight distribution thanks to the transaxle rear axle. This, in combination with the 2,451 cc engine with 118 HP, which had been offered since 1953, created exceptional performance with superior road handling. Externally, the frame-less side windows with tinted glass were characteristic of the coupés of the Series 4. Today this car, the most powerful of all the Aurelias, is particularly sought after, and not only because it is ready for the Mille Miglia.

According to the "foglio complementare", this Aurelia was registered in Meran, South Tyrol, in September 3, 1954. The previous owner paid duties on the Lancia in Germany on September 30, 1982. At that time, the car had 8,264 km in mileage. He evidently bought the car from the first owner. In 1990, he registered the coupé in Pforzheim, after having the Lancia overhauled extensively. Lancia specialist Peter Bazille took care of the technology; the interior and many other things were renewed, as well. The bills date back to 1984! The consigner bought the Lancia in 1997. He had the Aurelia overhauled once again in 1998, when it had some 17,000 km: the body underwent professional maintenance and was painted in its current colour; the chrome was renewed and the interior restored. The gearbox and brake system was overhauled, in addition to various mechanical work. The engine was overhauled completely by Domenico Fasano in Turin in 1999 at about 18,000 km. The automobile has been serviced and maintained since 1998 in the owner's quest for perfection. The records of the work are just as meticulous as the work itself. Upon visual inspection, the condition and care of the Aurelia is thrilling; it is easy to imagine how much intense effort the owner put into the care of the vehicle for nearly 20 years. In this time, the Lancia has been driven 36,000 km, regularly and in some cases on vacation – and always with joy and caution. 60 years ago, this GT was something special, both in its form and performance. That hasn't changed one bit!
