1966 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow

1966 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow - Autoveicoli d'epoca

The last vehicle owned by the actor Josef Meinrad!

Josef Meinrad was born in Vienna on April 21 1913 and played his first lesser roles before the war. From 1947 he was a member of the ensemble of the Burgtheater, and at this time he could also celebrate his first success on the big screen, with his roles including Colonel Böckl in the Sissi films. With the TV series "Father Brown" he also had a breakthrough in television. On February 18, 1996 Josef Meinrad passed away in Großgmain near Salzburg. His work has been widely appraised. Hidden from the public, however, was the fact that Josef Meinrad had a weakness for cars, and Rolls-Royce in particular. He even parked his Silver Shadow in his living room when he was no longer able to chauffeur the car himself for health reasons. There it was kept until beyond his death well into 2001 when objections were raised to it presence for fire safety reasons. A mutual friend introduced Mrs. Meinrad to the present owner, who was himself a Rolls enthusiast. The deep attachment to her husband was also the reason why Mrs. Meinrad ultimately sold the Rolls-Royce to the present owner.

Rolls-Royce started the production of the Silver Shadow in September 1965 with the serial number 1001. This Silver Shadow belongs to one of the earliest vehicles from the first model year and was perhaps the first ever that ended up in Austria. On September 2, 1966, the limousine was registered in Vienna, equipped with optional picnic tables in the rear. On July 29, 1968, the Shadow was then registered to Josef Meinrad, a professional theatre actor, as can be seen in the handwritten papers. It was not until October 25, 2001, five years after his death, that it was then de-registered, after the present owner had bought the Shadow from Mrs. Meinrad on August 20, 2001. It finally joined him on March 23, 2004 as a "second rolls", after all traces of its living room residency had been removed.

All in all, this Shadow is a Rolls-Royce as one would expect: only three owners with an Austrian roll-out, unrestored, but still outstandingly well maintained! And with an Austrian celebrity in its owner history, making it truly invaluable. This Silver Shadow has everything you could want from a Rolls-Royce of this cadre!
