Unrestored, in a beautiful condition with an inline eight!

Buick presented the art deco-style 1937 model on 18 October 1938. Legend has it that the engineering office took just 10 days to design the ‘modern look’ of the elegant body, securing Buick the Manufacturing of the Year award. The car included many loving details: the headlights, for instance, are incorporated in the park lights, and the grille was formed from simple chromium bars. A new feature of the Buicks at the time: plastic on the interior. Buttons and switches are made of ivory-coloured, moulded plastic. The technical details were improved as well – with a view to reducing noise and improving reliability.

This Buick is a so-called Style 47, a touring sedan with fisher body. Imported from Maryland, the Buick received individual approval for Austria in 1992. It appears that the 40-Eight received no more than a fresh coat of paint many years ago. The interior is preserved beautifully and completely. The dashboard, for instance, still has a clock and plastic buttons, while the seat covers and panelling remain very neat. But the heart of the car sits below the two-wing bonnet: a 4,065 ccm inline eight engine, of which the manufacturer claims it will take the car from naught to 100 km/h in just 19.2 seconds. Engines with this kind of power were only available in luxury vehicles in ‘the Old World’. An outstanding pre-war vehicle in a beautiful condition, the car received new inspection tags after its recent servicing!
