1972 Fiat 2400 Dino Coupé

1972 Fiat 2400 Dino Coupé - Classic Cars

Austrian ownership since 1979!

Maranello, the mid-60s: they had the V6 engine, now they just needed to install the entire 500 units in series vehicles for the Formula 2 certification. Enzo Ferrari and his brand had never achieved this on the fly. A phone call to Turin later solved the problem. After the Spider, the Fiat Dino 2000 coupé was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1967. The racy body was created at Bertone and combined with the high-performance engine from Ferrari. Two years later, the 2400 was the result; it had a larger and more powerful motor, independent suspension and carefully modified body details.

This Dino was initially registered in Italy and was first brought to Austria in 1979. The papers only list one owner for this speedy Italian, who deregistered the vehicle finally in 1989. It is likely that the vehicle was repainted once during that decade. The sleek coupé next ended up in the hands of a collector, which was positive in the sense that it was not exposed to external weather conditions for the next 25 years. This is evident from the body; despite not having been restored, the car bears the small traces of the passage of time with dignity. In the last two years, the car was brought out of its slumber, the engine was serviced, the brakes and chassis were overhauled and new Michelin tires were added. Again ready for use and TÜV-approved, this wolf in sheep's clothing is waiting to be unleashed once more!
