1979 Ferrari 308 GTS - Classic Cars

Carburettor model with dry sump lubrication
62,000 original km!

Ferrari introduced the open GTS next to the 308 GTB at the IAA in Frankfurt in 1977. Like its predecessor, the 246 Dino, the mid-engined sports car now offered a fresh air experience and more space for taller drivers. Although the GTB was produced for two years longer, more GTS models rolled off the line. Tom Selleck's "Magnum" character, whose trademarks included intense facial hair and a red GTS, doubtless played no small role here.

This 308 GTS was delivered to its first owner, Guido Candrian in St. Gallen, by Auto Dino AG in Zurich. He did not only get the 308 for leisurely tours, but as a real car. In the first six months, he put 5,000 km on it, by April 1981, 15,000 km, by July 1987 40,000 km, and 50,000 km by a final service in June 1987. The GTS was put aside for 20 years after that, until a new owner had it restored mechanically in the years 2006 and 2007 for 20,000 Francs. Another big service is noted at 55,000 km in February of 2007. At about 58,000 km, the car was registered to the owner's company in Liechtenstein; the owner has sadly passed away. Bills from 2010 and 2011 show that the Ferrari was also maintained continuously in the following years. Mechanically, the car is in perfect health! Now the Ferrari is waiting for new, loving hands, before the fate of oblivion threatens. The vehicle has already been declared in Austria. As carburettor model in GTS form, this is the most popular and purist form of the 308 icon!
