In the 1983 model year (the last SC year), Porsche brought back the convertible. Originally, the car was only available in Grand Prix White and Indian Red. As of 1994, it was possible to configure the convertible however you wanted, just like every other 911. The only drawback was the low availability of the car. Some resourceful companies in America solved this convertible emergency by converting Targas into convertibles. This can be recognized from the chassis number.
According to the production plate, this convertible was built as a Targa (model year 1984) in August 1983 and shipped to the USA. In 2013, the convertible came from Los Angeles to Germany, where it got certification as a classic car from the TÜV. Visually, the Carrera was "Europeanized"; only the polished wheels and front side blinkers speak to its background. The Porsche was repainted in superior quality in the USA and got new sport seats. The motor is obviously dry. Thanks to the previous investments, this black/black Carrera is extremely attractive and might be the most affordable way to drive a 911 Cabrio.
