1978 Ferrari 400 GT

1978 Ferrari 400 GT - Classic Cars

Carburetor model in rare color!

In 1972, Ferrari presented its new twelve-cylinder touring car, the 365 GT 2+2 in Paris at the booth of Charles Pozzi. Reactions to the design from Pininfarina were relatively harsh, the unanimous opinion was that it was not spectacular enough. That’s not what Ferrari wanted, so its target clientele became traveling businessmen. And this was met with pinpoint accuracy. The 400 GT from 1976 integrated a larger motor, the 1979 received a fuel injection system, and finally in its final stage, the 412, continued to be built until 1989 and thus became one of the most successful models from Maranello.

This 400 Automatic, 24743, the 204, built from the 502, was completed on June 8, 1978 according to Ferrari historian Marcel Massini, painted in Blu Ribot Metallizzato, and had an interior with beige Connolly leather Sabbia VM 3234. The Ferrari made its way to in Brussels, to the Garage Francorchamps SA from Jacques Swaters, who immediately sold the car to the Genevan Importer SAVAF (Société Anonyme pour la vente of Automobiles Ferrari) in Switzerland for 53,000 francs. The Ferrari remained in Switzerland until 2012 before passing through Germany on its way to the garage of an Austrian collector. The paintwork was already temporarily renewed once in its grand original color, the interior, however, is still in its manicured original condition, so that the mileage may well appear as the original. The Consignor had the Ferrari typified in Austria for the auction –its new owner awaits a newly inspected Gran Turismo, an unparalleled leisure car for joy riding in a rare color combination with outstanding engine in a coveted carburetor version!
