1960 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL

1960 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL - Classic Cars

German delivery with cardboard-cover letter

In 1955, Mercedes-Benz introduced the 190 SL, incidentally, at the same time of the 300 SL. At the insistence of the American Mercedes-Benz importer Max Hofmann, Stuttgart designed the image-boosting convertible for the American clientele using technology borrowed from the Ponton sedan. The 105 hp of this style icon was enough at the time to leave 98% of all German motorists in its dust.

This 190 SL was delivered in October 1960 and restored mid 90s. Various pictures of its restoration illustrate the different steps of the vehicle being completely disassembled and all the way to the finished convertible in 1996. During that time, or even earlier, the Mercedes received its redesigned engine. In August 2009, the convertible was then typified in Vorarlberg for Austria. The current condition demonstrates on the one hand the quality of the work carried out at that time, and on the other hand the maintenance of the last few years. This color combination is just one of the many features of this 190 SL that displays this model’s fantastic condition.
