1936 BMW 319 Reutter Convertible

1936 BMW 319 Reutter Convertible - Classic Cars

Rare special bodywork from Reutter!
Beautifully restored!

From 1935 onwards, the BMW 319 followed the 315, first as sports roadster 319/1, then the 1.9-liter engine also found its way into standard models. as Juast like its predecessor, these came in a large variety of different body versions, 491 cars were delivered only as a chassis frame and, inter alia, dressed by bodywork manufacturers such as Reutter, Drauz or Ludwig Weinberger.

Body chassis 56716 was delivered to the BMW site at Kurpfalz in Berlin on February 3, 1936, as a BMW 319 with no body structure. Afterwards, the chassis received a sporty, two-window convertible structure from Reutter in Stuttgart, which was not possible to buy directly from BMW! In principle, the so-called "factory convertible" from Reutter had four side windows; the ones with two windows mainly went to England, where they were marketed as Frazer Nash. In other words, this extremely attractive body form is extremely rare in continental Europe! The way in which the BMW arrived in Austria can now no longer retraced. However, new papers were issued on August 23, 1955, and the convertible was registerted under Rudolf Sikorsky, a hotel employee from the 2nd district of Vienna. Based on the letter, however, it appears that the car was previously registered in Linz. The BMW was registered until 1959, thereafter it was it locked away and forgotten. Around the turn of the century it was rediscovered and restored over many years, without regard to the cost and effort and with a lot of attention to detail. It was finally registered again in 2007 after 48 years. Because its original engine had been lost, it is now powered by a 315 generator, but can also handle more than 100 km/h nowadays! The BMW 6-cylinder convertible anxiously awaits the day its new owner can enjoy it in every way possible: with its beautiful condition, its incomparable elegance and its extraordinary rareness!
