In 1984, Honda and Pininfarina presented the futuristic HP-X study at the Turin Motor Show. The actual starting shot for a new super sports car came in 1986. Inspiration came as much from the study as from the F-16 fighter jet and the MG EX-E concept idea from the year before. The performance should strike fear in the heart of the Ferraris and therefore its makers reached deep into their bag of tricks to come up with a four-camshaft 3-liter V6 naturally aspirated engine with variable valve control system (VTEC), all-aluminum semi-monocoque, 4-channel ABS, etc. The Indycar veteran and Honda dealer Bobby Rahal as well as the Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna were involved in the development, who, did the final tweaking at the Nordschleife, among other things.

In late 1991, this NSX was delivered in the US and therefore bears the Acura emblems. It was imported to Austria in the early 2000s, where it landed in the hands of two collectors and, unlike many of its brothers, fell victim to tuning and street racing fantasies of its owner. The consignor, a Honda enthusiast, fulfiled his dream three years ago with this NSX. However, a growing family a good reason to pass on his dream sports car to the next aficiondo.
