1962 Puch 650 T

1962 Puch 650 T - Classic Cars

Starting in 1957, small, rounded cars started rolling from the Puch production halls in Graz-Thondorf, the ones previously known only from holidays in Italy: the Steyr Puch 500 model Fiat. But the only thing that comes from Turin is the shell, while everything underneath is from Graz. An air-conditioned boxer engine and synchronized gearbox allowed the small Styrian to be able to do it better than its Italian role model. From 1962 on, the 650 T and 650 TR followed with the first larger and more powerful engines, which caused awe and amazement on the racetracks far and wide as well as a European Championship title in 1966.

In 2008, the consignor took this Puch 650 T from Finland, the second largest Puch-export market after Germany, back to his home country. As the early model, it still has the rear-hinged doors and screwed on hardtop with rump. The Puch was unapologetically rebuilt in Finland as a rally car and used accordingly. This includes a 650 TR engine, which the previous owner at Günther Kremel had tuned; the same goes for the transmission from the 650 TR, cage, safety fuel tank, bucket seats, performance clutch and not least a Monte Carlo racing exhaust system that can make a proper sound for a small car. Of course, such a sports career also leaves its mark – and exactly this is what gives it its final pinch of charm. Whoever has big plans with a small car is in the right place!
