1954 MG TF Midget

1954 MG TF Midget - CLASSIC CARS and Automobilia

Matching numbers and unrestored!

In 1953, MG for the first time experienced a drop in demand. As a result, the decision was taken to modernise the TD; the TF was already on display at the London Motorshow in autumn of 1953, were it could be ordered with optional spoked wheels. Its flat front section with tilted radiator grill, the wings with integrated headlights, and a slanting rear gave the MG a more sleek appearance.

The present MG was delivered as a left-hand drive export model, in black with leather interior, odometer (in km) and spoked wheels. The old German registration card shows that the car was first registered on 28 March 1962. As early as October 1973, the Roadster was mothballed and during later years only driven with collector’s plates. It last underwent a general inspection in June 2014. The present TF spent many years with a single owner who had it maintained regularly - but not restored. In what one might call an almost British fashion the car was maintained, repaired and patched up - the main concern was its roadworthiness. The car remained original, the paint clearly shows some retouches, only the roof had in the meantime been replaced. The car also passed the MOT exam without any flaws. The present MG is a rugged fellow, in good and unpretentious condition.
