1958 Jaguar XK 150 Coupé

1958 Jaguar XK 150 Coupé - CLASSIC CARS and Automobilia

Unique and personalised in high quality style!

What the consigner desired was a classic coupé with the performance and travel suitability of a contemporary GT. In 1986, he consequently had the present XK 150 professionally restored and modified in accordance with his preferences.

An 3,8 litre E-Type engine was given a classic tune up, adding a sports exhaust and a matching radiator. A fully synchronised transmission with overdrive from a XJ model guaranteed the desired precision. The axles were overhauled and combined with Koni shock absorbers on a new brake system. The resulting increase in power and vehicle dynamics were transferred to the road via slightly wider tires, mounted on classic 7x15“ Borani wire wheels. To make room for them, the wings were also made slightly wider, which necessitated wider bumpers - after all, this project was to a significant degree an aesthetic one. The interior was given Conolly upholstery and head-liner, the carpeting is made of Wilton wool. XJ-C fit in well with the other elements and are as comfortable as one could wish. The dashboard is made of wood. As a result, the interior could not be more British. Naturally the paint, chrome, and tinted windows were also restored. In addition, the coupé features such charming details as a cigar compartment built into the dashboard! Even in 1988, realising this dream cost more than 120.000 EUR! Invoices and an extensive expert’s report detail the work that was done and an article in “Motor-Klassik” talks about the special fascination of this unique car. Other receipts document regular maintenance work. Finally, the car was also equipped with power steering. The consigner was able to realise his dream of a hyper XK and enjoyed the results of the investment in time and effort - as well as the flabbergasted looks of other road users - for 30 years. Though the performance data listed in the car documents did not change. It is one of these truly unique objects, thought about by many but only realised by a few.
“A real Jag” - perfectly in line with the old saying: “Grace, Space and Race.”
