1965 Ford Cortina Estate 1500 Deluxe (no limit)

1965 Ford Cortina Estate 1500 Deluxe (no limit) - Classic Cars

Rare estate with only 49,000 km on the clock!

In 1962, Ford expanded its range with its Cortina models. This bridged a gap between the Anglia and the Consul. The Cortina was simply and rationally designed and immediately became a huge sales success. The name was inspired by the Italian resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo. Until 1966, the Mk 1 was produced as a two- and four-door saloon, and also as an estate. A little more than a million Mk 1 Cortinas left the Ford factories in Dagenham, with a few of them being estates and even fewer still with the steering wheel on the left!

This Ford Cortina estate was delivered in April 1964 to its first owner in the district of Mistelbach. She indulged herself with a deluxe decor, chose a discreet white for the outside and revelled inside in a blaze of red. Already a year later the Cortina then moved to a neighbouring village to fall in the hands of a farmer. The fact that the number plate remained the same suggests a (close) relationship between the first owner and the second owner. In 1993 the estate was de-registered, until the current owner kissed it awake from its deep, deep sleep. As numerous inspection reports which date back to the 1960s confirm, the Cortina has only actually been driven 49,000 kilometres so far! This also explains the unbelievable original condition in which it has been retained. No doubt a paintbrush has helped here and there, and it still proudly displays one or two scrapes, but the real sensation is that it has not just survived unaffected, but that it has survived at all!
