1974 Fiat 500 R *
Spring 1952 in Italy: the Unita, mouthpiece of the Communist Party, runs an article accusing Fiat of building automobiles designed only for higher-income groups. 4 July 1957: Fiat presents the Nuova 500 and proves the opposite. Over time, the former “people’s cars” became cult objects and therefore increasingly unaffordable.
This Fiat 500 is an R with the larger engine. It comes originally from Italy and was included in the consignor’s collection in 2005. The diminutive Italian was extensively refurbished back in its home country. Its altogether delightful appearance is testimony to the infrequency of its use since then!
