Johann Christian Thomas Winck

The Annunciation of the Virgin,

Following his apprenticeship under Anton Scheidler in Eggenfelden and Jakob Feichtmayer in Eichstätt, Winck moved to Augsburg and then Freising. From 1760 he was employed as a set painter for the Prince Electoral theatre in Munich, painting flats after designs by Giovanni Paolo Gaspari and Lorenz Quaglio. In 1769 Winck was appointed court painter to the Prince Electors. He produced decorative schemes for many Upper Bavarian churches, as well as frescoes for the dining hall at Schloss Schleißheim.
