This painting is an authentic version of Lemaire’s painting in the Devonshire Collection at Chatsworth (see Fagiolo dell’Arco, 1966, cat. no. 33).
Fagiolo dell’Arco dates this painting to the first half of the 1630s due to the typology of the architecture and the figure, as well as because of the use of light.
