Venetian School of the 18th century
Festive company in a landscape with ruins,
oil on canvas, 83 x 112 cm, framed
Provenance:
sold at Relarte, Milan 11 April 1964 (as Antonio Diziani).
This painting is reminiscent of Antonio Diziani’s “Spring” held at the Museo Civico, Padua. In contrast to Diziani’s painting, the ruins in our painting are rendered more powerfully in the foreground and take up more space. This is evidence of the influence of the works of Marco Ricci, where the motif originated.
