Provenance: Auction Dorotheum, Vienna, 29th November 1966, lot 65; Private German collection. Catalogued and illustrated in: Marianne Frodl-Schneemann, Johann Peter Krafft, Wien-München 1984, p. 137, CR no. 67 (with ill.). This painting is one of Krafft’s early works, one in which the painter’s training with Füger and the influence of the portrait artist David can be identified.
