1978 Vespa Rally 200
The Rally 200 entered the market in 1972 and followed the Rally 180. It was the first Vespa with electronic ignition and during its eight-year production span it represented Piaggio‘s top-of-the-line model. Its engine was 12,35 horses strong, which helped the Rally 200 exceed a top speed of 110 km/h. The Rally‘s sporty touch was further underlined by colored stripes on the fender and the side panels.
In total only 41,275 examples were built over its eight years of production. With the introduction of the PX in 1977 sales numbers eventually started to decline. Today the Rally 200 is one of the most sought after Vespa models, owed to its performance, rarity and reliability.
This Vespa Rally 200 is just one-of-a-kind, with its history and the condition it is in. She was delivered new to Lower Austria and to this day has only run 2,407 kilometers. Thus, the magnificent originality that has survived all those years is nothing but breathtaking. Who knows, if there is a better example of a Rally 200 somewhere out there?
