1981 Porsche 924

1981 Porsche 924 - Classic Cars

Long ownership, loving care and meticulous documentation!

The 911 community viewed with suspicion the news that the development centre in Weissach was working on a car with water-cooled front engine. To this day, many refused to accept it as a genuine Porsche. But packing just 125 hp and with sweet-tempered handling, it was a popular second car for the wife in more prosperous circles. It was the birth of the ‘housewife Porsche’. All the same, experts rave about the transaxle structure. The balanced distribution of weight with an engine at the front and gearbox on the rear axle allows the sports car to stick to any bends in the roads. Over 150,000 of the 924s were built between 1976 and 1988, and the well-kept models are now almost exclusively owned by collectors. Previously mocked, the prices for the 924 have risen noticeably in recent years.

The consignor of this 924 had the same experience. It takes patience and a deeper wallet than expected to find a truly good vehicle. In return, though, he acquired a 924 with an exceptionally well-preserved body and quite evidently the original coat of paint. Naturally, its flat front section does have the dents from stones that are typical of Porsches, but it remains nevertheless an extremely solid and altogether honest car that inspires trust. The elegant platinum metallic paint with the black pinstripe interior gives the car a mature and altogether premium touch. It would be better to buy now than to wait for the prices to climb even higher!
