1972 Fiat 850 Sport Spider

1972 Fiat 850 Sport Spider - Classic Cars

Fiat enlarged its 850 series by adding a coupé and Spider for presentation at the 1965 Geneva Motor Show. The second series of this diminutive sports car was released in 1968. Their common features are a punchy motor with 52 hp and 6400 rpm, as well as disc brakes at the front. Bertone gave the delightful Spider body a chic modern look. What remained – besides the upscale design – was that the roof disappeared behind a cover. The power was also increased. However, corrosive rust and overly self-confident drivers had a habit of bringing the lifespan of many 850 Spiders to an abrupt end.

This 850 Sport Spider was delivered to Germany as a new car in 1972. It was produced in the only correct colour for a small convertible from Italy, namely red! Its last owner is from Bavaria, who brought the vehicle from Tau to closer to his home town in 2011. Since then, he has kept meticulous records about his little sportster. Even the smallest invoice is carefully placed in the folder. Also susceptible to the brown plague, this diminutive Italian had its body refurbished, as shown in a number of photographs. The speedster was then taken to Vienna, where the owner had some more work completed on the bodywork to keep it in good shape for the foreseeable future. Today, the little Fiat is in such outstanding condition that it is bound to melt hearts wherever it goes! It just recently passed its major inspection for individual approval and is therefore all set for the summer!
