1960 Nash Metropolitan (no reserve)

1960 Nash Metropolitan (no reserve) - Classic Cars

Delivered by Denzel!

Nash was considered the pioneer of compact vehicles in the United States when it presented a genuine small car – by US standards at least – in March 1954. The company collaborated with Austin, also using its engineering. None other than Pininfarina produced the design for the coupé and convertible. It was a sweet car that exuded the chic of a bigger model – built for the US and English markets. The feverishly awaited 1,500 ccm engine was finally fitted in 1956.

This vehicle was delivered by the distributor Denzel to a woman in the 13th District of Vienna in September 1960. The second owner ensured that the official documentation stated that she would carry two children on the back seat, but she only kept the Nash for a year. She was followed by two owners, the last of them in Baden, who held on to the caer for a very long period before it was finally deregistered in 1997. It seems that the Metropolitan was repainted in this time, before disappearing into a collection of vintage cars after the death of the final owner. The cute compact car received a recent technical overhaul, although the final polish and a spot of tinkering may still remain. It is still quite a looker and even seems preserved in its original condition on the inside. It is clearly a rare Viennese item that is certain to draw plenty of admiring glances and will definitely be the centre of attention due to the almost universal need to explain what it even is!
