1957 Goggomobile TS 400 Convertible

1957 Goggomobile TS 400 Convertible - Classic Cars

Glas presented its smart Goggomobil Coupé TS at the start of 1957, which it engineered on the basis of the sedan. It then used the coupé to develop a delightful convertible. Glas built nine Goggomobil convertibles between 1957 and 1959. But it never made it onto the roads, as Glas decided against series production, although it had already been advertised in the catalogues.

This convertible is a very early conversion of the coupé, probably built in the 1960s, which the consignor purchased in Salzburg back in the early 1980s. At the time the convertible was painted white, as it had been a wedding gift to the previous owner. The sleek convertible was based on a rare Goggo TS 400 with preselector gearbox that was more than able to hit the magic 100 on the speedometer. The consignor had the Goggo refurbished and painted red. And when he moved to work in the USA in 1988, he whisked the convertible off to sunny Florida in his cabin baggage. Naturally, the coupé convertible followed the consignor back to Austria in 2003, where it received new papers. A typical child of the post-war era, it is adorned with all kinds of glitter. A sun visor and spoked rims were de rigeur, and the additional decorative elements typical of the times. This feel-good speedster was submitted for auction with recent customer service and technical inspection.
