Followewr of Johann Wilhelm Baur - Master Drawings, Prints before 1900, Watercolours, Miniatures

(1607-1642) A seaport with ships and galleys, a waterside promenade, a palace with protruding loggia, pen, black ink, gouache, glazed, reinforced by black painted loose paper, which is inscribed "Nr.", 18 x 25 cm, framed, an old adhesive label on the reverse, where the sheet is attributed to Wilhelm Bauer and with a label Leon..., Antiquariat, Rue S. Honore, Paris, (Hu)

Provenance: From the collection Johann Rudolf Czernin (1757-1845), which is partly preserved in the Residenzgalerie Salzburg today.

In 1641 Johann Wilhelm Baur executed an extended series of various harbour scenes in Vienna, which were partly engraved by Melchior Küsel, an editor and engraver in Augsburg. The present reverse glass painting may point to this circumstance.
