Model elaborately restored by a Porsche specialist!

In April 1950, Reutter in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen started serial production of the 356 coupé. Around the middle of 1951 it introduced the undivided windscreen, today known as „Knickscheibe“ (bent windscreen). From October the car came with bumper-horns and a two-spoke steering wheel. On a technological level, the selection of engines was restructured and the brake system significantly enlarged using aluminium brake drums. From November 1954 a stabiliser bar was mounted on the front axle, shortly before in September 1955 the 356 A was introduced.

According to its birth certificate, the present 356 Pre A was finished in August 1954. The consigner states that the coupé was restored during the nineties by the Porsche specialist Peter Brittigham from Canaan, Connecticut (USA). At the time the car had already been in storage for 30 years. The entire car was reconstructed from scratch. As the original engine had been lost, as is often the case, it was replaced by a 616/1 engine bearing the number 610631. Performance-wise the 60 HP remained close to the original, and still provided more than enough power for a car weighing only 820 kg. The Reutter coupé was once more painted in the original Pearl Grey, colour code 5407, in combination with a matching grey-blue cord interior. The wish for a high degree of originality is also reflected in the 16“ wheels with 5.00-16 tires. Most recently the Porsche showed its capabilities at the Gran Premio Nuvolari, when it covered its distance of 1.060 km with ease. Not just a dapper Porsche from the company’s early days, it also promises to be a reliable partner for sports events!
