1968 Fiat Dino 2000 Spider

1968 Fiat Dino 2000 Spider - Classic Cars

German delivery!

The Dino Spider was among the hottest attractions at the Turin Motor Show at the start of November 1966. Experts were unanimous that Bertone has created a body of essentially unbeatable elegance. A V6 all-aluminium engine, built by Ferrari, suitably underlined its lively character. Fiat therefore presented a flagship product with premium engineering wrapped up in the perfect packaging. A shade over 1,000 of them were built before the Spider 2400 was launched in autumn, featuring a grey iron engine and plenty of reworked details.

This vehicle was shipped via the German Fiat distributors in Heilbronn and registered for the first time on 19 September 1968. TÜV regulations meant that German Fiats were not fitted with central locking wheels at the time. The consignor purchased the Dino from an older collector in 2010. He has kept good care of the Spider, revising some features, for many years. The consignor himself, who also had experience with Dinos, continued to maintain the car conscientiously. Experts will notice numerous original details that are rarely found today. Above all a Dinoplex ignition system, but also original interior features like armrests or the operating manual and spare parts catalogue in German. This Dino has probably been kept tame and driven rarely in the past. Its confidence-inspiring condition is pleasing, while the grand name Ferrari seems suddenly less daunting, allowing only fascination to remain. An amazing car even in its day, but now a magnificent alternative to the contemporary top models from Stuttgart, whether it be Untertürkheim or Zuffenhausen!
