Brigitte Hamann, Die Habsburger: Maria Josefa, daughter of Emperor Joseph I and Princess Amalie Wilhelmine of Brunswick-Lüneburg, Vienna 8.12.1699-17.11.1757 Dresden, buried in the Court Church in Dresden. After the election of her husband as King of Poland in 1733, she developed a lively political activity, attempting to secure the imperial crown to her husband both after the death of Emperor Charles VI in 1740 and after the death of Charles VII in 1745. Her influence on her husband’s politics decreased considerably when Count Brühl became the king’s confidant. She gave birth to 14 children, devoting much time and effort to their education.
